We are honoured to announce that our first group of Junior and Senior Fellows has started their research activities at Mecila!
We warmly welcome our Junior Fellows Juliana Streva (FU Berlin), Léa Tosold (USP), Ricardo Castellón (UzK), and Clemente Penna (UFRJ). They are distinguished early-career scholars that have recently obtained their doctoral degrees in the humanities or the social sciences. The Senior Fellows 2020 consist of Susana Durão (Unicamp), Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez (JLU*), Yves Cohen (EHESS), Gregory Pappas (Texas A&M), and Seth Racusen (AMC), internationally recognized scholars with a significant impact on their research fields.
Mecila’s yearly fellowships bring together researchers from several disciplines and institutions. The Centre aims to foster an interdisciplinary community of excellent scholars who are interested in developing research on the nexus between conviviality and inequality.
Due to the extraordinary challenges of the COVID-19-pandemic, Mecila implemented digital fellowships for this year. Instead of working from Mecila’s headquarters in São Paulo, fellows will develop their projects from their home locations. All events and outreach activities will happen remotely, preserving the wellbeing and safety of our members, while keeping with the Centre’s high scientific standards.
