[2021] Decentering Conceptions of Living Together

Latin American and African Perspectives

Online

About the event

This workshop is organized in the framework of the new interdisciplinary research project RePLITO (Global Repertoires of Living Together) in which researchers from the Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and international partners cooperate. RePLITO takes marginalized repertoires of living together as its starting point to rethink social cohesion from a transregional perspective. We explore how social actors in politically and conceptually neglected regions of the Global South and within Europe’s margins imagine and practice communal life and create bonds. Our central goal is to create a dynamic digital archive that gathers and conceptualizes global repertoires of living together in their interconnections and interdependencies. Starting from this approach, the present workshop searches for promoting a transdisciplinary dialog between scholars and activists from Latin America and South Africa involving concepts of living together and political perspectives for promoting convivial cultures. The workshop will take place in the format of digital conference with livestreaming. Simultaneous translation for English, Spanish, and Portuguese will be available.
